Facts and Preparation

NO PRINT ROOM IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT

Nor are they suppose to be

That might sound a bit odd, but when any art or craft is made by hand, therein lies the awe and the beauty.  Think of any painting but analogize it to a  20th century Artist, let's say Norman Rockwell. How often have you heard say that his paintings look like photographs?  They could have used photography instead of his paintings.  So why was he so outrageously successful and remains so today?  Simply -  it is art and was interpreted creatively and  technically accurate.  So if your Print Room is not 1,000,000% perfect - that is all right.  HOWEVER, in saying that, the effort that is put forth in creating a Print Room should be as true and technicallly accurate as possible.  Print Rooms are custom works of art.  Each print, border and hanging piece is applied by hand.

THE WALL PREPARATION

You are responsible for the preparation job of the Print Room walls. We will tell you that the walls should be primed and painted properly according the paint manufacturers instructions. One to two coats of primer and two coats of paint is the proper base. Each coat should be sanded smoothly in between applications. If the initial preparation is not done correctly, it is possible for the prints or borders to lift off the walls at the edges. Usually, the protective sealer that is applied over the prints does seal it down to insure that it does not happen, but the only true guarantee is that the walls be properly prepared. It is desirable to prime and paint the walls in manufacturers recommended temperatures and NOT during a high humidity time period nor in temperatures below 50 degrees in the room in which you are painting.

Printrooms.com does not do any wall preparation or any faux finishes. You can do it yourself or contract a painting professional to do it for you.  We must lay a disclaimer to any faulty work done in this phase of creating a Print Room.
